The special type glass tube heat exchanger (BLGDW heat exchanger) was developed by Department of Power Engineering, Harbin Engineering University in 1993. Long-term industrial test of BLGDW heat exchanger in Harbin City was finished in September 1995.

This BLGDW heat exchanger will recover a lot of energy that could be wasted otherwise, and will improve the environmental quality at the same time, because some of the SO2 emission will condense on the cool surface of the glass tubes.

This heat exchanger is able to recover low temperature (Lower than 200℃) waste heat which is not able to be used by conventional heat exchangers because of low temperature corrosion.

Because of the stability of surface of glass tube this heat exchanger will be used for a long time in corrosive environment of low temperature flue gases. For example, this heat exchanger can be used in the exit of chimney of power stations and can recover the waste heat to save energy.

The low temperature heat recovered by the BLGDW heat exchanger can find their positions in various industrial applications such as:

A.Preheating the feed water from 40℃ to 90℃ to reduce the consumption of heating stream.

B.Building heat supply in winter

C.Greenhouse heat supply

D.Increase water temperature of a pool to produce fish and sea food which are produced in hot climate areas.
