Beijing expecting clearer days in 2000

( Abstract )

According to Beijing EPA, the first two months of this year, in 55 days Beijing's air quality meet the state standard, 30 days more than the same period of the last year. The standing committee of the municipal government made a decision on February 29 of counter-measures of air pollution control in the fourth phase (April - October).

The efforts will focused on controlling the suspended particles, continuing to control the automobile tail-gas emission and smoke pollution, and continuing to implement all the environment regulations.

Light trucks, heavy trucks, diesel engine vehicles, motor cycles, agricultural-use vehicles and trackers are all required to meet the new emission standards issued by the Beijing Municipal government. The vehicles without meeting the standards are not allowed to be in the market...
