Up to now, 67.5% of all industrial enterprises has reached standard of environmental protection. 49.8% of major industrial enterprises has reached the standard. Environmental quality of ground water in function area of 25 major Cities has met criterion. In 14 Cities the criterion of air quality in function area has already realized. 9 Cities have reached "double standard", the standard of water environmental quality and air quality. In order to strictly control discharging of sulphur dioxide 8 Provinces, Regions and Municipal Cities have begun to limit coal use contained sulphur and a plenty of thermal power generating units and coal mines were shut down.
