RMB20 million is invested in the study of carbon

( Abstract )

Recently, Chinese Academy of Science started researching on "the change of land utilization and ecology system carbonization". In the next 3 years, over 100 researchers will join the research project with an investment of RMB20 million.

Professor Li tells the reporter that this research aims to study the CO2 absorption and emission of forest, prairie, and farmland. And re-arrangement of land utilization will better absorb the excessive CO2 from fuel consumption.

Since the industrial revolution in 1850s, the concentration of CO2 in the air increased dramatically. CO2 has caused green house effect and a series of natural disasters. The sources of the excessive CO2 are still unknown. The research on carbon is an important topic in the 21st centaury.
