Using Ih Ju coal for a bluer sky

( Abstract )

In Ih Ju League of Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region, coal can be found in 70% or 60,000 square kilometers of the land. The estimated coal reserve is 763 billion tons. The prospected reserve is 149.6 billion tons, or 1/6 of the state total.
Ih Ju coal is abundant in reserve and also is good in quality. The sulfur, ash, and phosphor contents are low and the heat value is high. The average coal sulfur content is 1.1%, and Ih Ju coal is 0.5%. The average coal ash content is 23.85%, and Ih Ju coal is 8%.

Most of the SO2 and nitrogen oxides pollution comes from coal burning in Beijing. Beijing uses 25 million tons of coal annually. If we use Ih Ju coal, the SO2 emission can be cut in half. The CO2 emission can be reduced 110,000 tons. The ash emission can be reduced 560,000 tons.

Since 1993, Ih Ju Coal Company has established 23 medium-large sized coalmines. They cover 148 square kilometers of land. The extractable coal reserve is 430 million tons. The annual extractable coal reserve is 8 million tons. Ih Ju Coal Company spent lots of money to improve the roads to ensure the transportation of the coal.
