Position: Freshwater and Marine Programme Director


Based in: Beijing

Main Function:

WWF has a strong Freshwater & Marine Programme in China, currently focused on restoring the Yangtze as a “Living River,” through habitat restoration, biodiversity conservation and integrated river basin management (IRBM). The director will manage Freshwater & Marine Team, supervise and ensure delivery of current projects, and take the lead in WWF’s IRBM work in China. The director will also develop new initiatives on freshwater & marine issues related to WWF’s global conservation priorities, including wetland conservation, wise water use, Yellow Sea & HSBC projects and sustainable management of the Mekong and Amur rivers.

Basic Requirements:

  • Strong strategic planning, team management, project design, and communication skills.
  • At least 10 years experience in a relevant field (e.g. conservation, river basin management)
  • At least a Master’s degree in a related field.
  • A high degree of personal integrity and commitment to conservation.
  • Work experience in China and knowledge of China’s freshwater issues.
  • Fluent in English and Mandarin Chinese.
