Tuition Scholarship Opportunity: International Training in Environmental Management
November 20 - December 08,2003

Dear Sir / Madam ,

Global climate change, often referred to as global warming, is a major air quality issue that is currently the focus of intense study and international negotiation. The phrase "global climate change" is used to describe the theory that human activities (e.g., burning of fossil fuels) appear to be causing the Earth to become warmer, especially in the last 250 years. This warming appears to coincide with the build-up of carbon dioxide, methane, nitrous oxides and a range of chlorofluorocarbons released into the atmosphere as a result of human activities. The ultimate results of this build up of greenhouse gases are uncertain, but are predicted by many to include continued increases in average worldwide temperatures, rising oceans and coastal flooding, increased intensity of storms, changing rainfall patterns and greater energy needs to meet cooling demands. Many international treaties have been proposed to address global climate change, but as of now, not one has been implemented. The upcoming Galillee College "Environmental Management" seminar will introduce participants to the methods of dealing with the causes of global warming in Israel. Participants will be introduced to new technologies, innovative organizational steps together with the financial implications of global warming. These issues will be explored through study tours, workshop sessions and focused project preparation.
