Location:
The Louisiana State University Agricultural Center - School of Forestry, Wildlife, and Fisheries anticipates openings for two 3-year full-time research associate positions to coordinate research efforts in the Atchafalaya River Basin and coastal plains streams.
Qualifications
MS in fisheries management, aquatic ecology, or related biological field.
Experience with water quality monitoring and field collecting techniques for fishes and invertebrates;
Experience with database management and programming and GIS;
Strong understanding of statistics and data analysis techniques;
Experience with one or more of the following software packages: Excel, Access, SAS, ArcView, ArcInfo, and Microsoft productivity applications;
Excellent written and verbal communication skills;
Ability to work well independently or within collaborative teams.
Responsibilities
Coordinate field activities (e.g, fishes, benthic invertebrates, and water quality collections) and personnel needs on integrated long-term research project;
assist principal investigators in the design and direction of integrated studies;
help supervise and train technicians and graduate students; maintain and manage project database;
conduct data analyses; and
fulfill periodic reporting requirements.
Salary and Benefits:
