The first World Environment and Resource Economists conference was held in Venice, Italy from June 25th to 37th 1998. The topic of the meeting concerned almost all aspects of environment and resource economics. But it mainly reflected the current situation and hot topics of developed countries, such as tropic forest protection, biodiversity, global warming, and carbon dioxide emission. From study method, will survey evaluation and its application is the hot issue of the conference. And market-based policy method is another hot issue of the meeting. The meeting shows that environment and resource economics has become an important branch of economics.
