Shanghai's Export: Challenge from Environmental Protection

( Abstract )

This year, a textile export company in Shanghai exported underclothes to a European country. But because the product contains too much formaldehyde, the export was cut short. It reduced the company five million dollars' export. A study shows that the strict environmental standard in international market has seriously affected China, especially Shanghai's export. According to a preliminary estimate, till 2000, tens of billion dollars' export will be affected. Experts maintain that the trend of environmental protection can not be changed. Shanghai should promote its green industry's development.
