Six restaurants are punished in Beijing

( Abstract )

Yesterday, Beijing Fishery Management Station cooperated with the police to investigate some restaurants and art markets. They found 63 pieces of ornaments made of red coral, 9 closed shell turtles and 25 sturgeons.

The red coral ornament is confiscated from a stand in Hongqiao Market. Red coral is an aquatic wild animal under first class state protection. It grows very slowly. It takes over 2000 years for it to grow 15 centimeters. A red coral ornament sells for RMB300-400 in the market.

Six institutions including Tianmin aquatic product whol sale market and ChaoYang restaurant were punished for illegal wild animal trading.
