The Arctic Scientific investigation group encountered a large group of walruses on August 5th at 72.47N ,167.07W. Gao Xueyu, an accompanying press photographer witnessed and recorded the whole process. "At 00:37, I was wakened£¬and I found there were about ten circles of walruses in the ice. Many walruses circled around and seemed to be sound asleep." The witness said. Walruses are the characteristic animals in theArctic¡£Due to their high economic value, walruses were slaughtered in large numbers and nearly eliminated.
