Strong sand and dust storm hits Dunhuang

( Abstract )

This afternoon, Gansu province, Dunhuang City experienced the most serious dust and sand assault, reducing visibility level to zero.

Around 2pm today, reporters entering Dunhuang City, suddenly noticed a large cloud of yellow dust. It was completely gray outside the vehicle and the interior of the vehicle was filled with a fishy smell. After approximately 10 minutes, the sky started to clear up and the sand and dust moved on in a Westerly direction. Many large trees were blown down by the wind and many store signs were on the ground in Dunhuang City. The city also experienced a black out that lasted beyond 5pm that same day.
