Xinjiang Locust Plague has at present already affected more than 1.667 million hectares of land

( Abstract )

An official from the Xinjiang Locust Plague Prevention Agency revealed today that an investigation into preventing plagues and forecasting the number of locusts in each area mentioned that more than 1.667 million hectares of land has currently been affected by locust plagues, and that 1 million hectares of land had been seriously affected.

At present, the combating of locusts in Xinjiang is entering another stage, after half a month of prevention. Xinjiang expects to use biological means to solve the locust problem and control the affected area to 0.167 million hectares. During the sudden and explosive onset of the locust plague, Xinjiang will adopt highly effective chemicals, which leave little residue and are not harmful, to control the locust plague.
