Beijing city government confirmed on June 12 that there is no great risk of flying locusts for the city since Beijing is not suitable for the locusts to grow and the surrounding areas are taking effective control actions to it. Authorities also said that they have set up nine locust observatories in the suburbs of Beijing. They will take immediate actions once the density of locusts is at a certain level.
