Mud-rock flow can be forecasted now

( Abstract )

The "Beijing Mountain Area Mudflow Forecast System" recently passed appraisal by a panel of experts from the Beijing Science Committee.

Mountain area makes up 62% of Beijing's territory, and mud-rock flow can happen in 40% of it. The above forecast system is a database for monitoring and recording the variables that may cause mudflow. It is more accurate than the conventional weather forecast system.

Data shows that heavy mudflow could happen in 24 brooks, and mudflow could happen in 249 brooks around Beijing. Over 30,000 people and 40,000 buildings are in the danger zone.
