Drought cut down 20 percent of daily water supply in Dalian

( Abstract )

Since last year, Dalian has suffered from the severe drought unseen in the last 50 years. In the last two years, the rainfall is less than 300 millimeters. Facing such severe situation, Dalian municipal government has reduced the daily water supply from 890,000 cubic meters to 700,000 cubic meters in four stages. The residents have monthly water supply of 6 tons per family. The extra usage will cost ten times that of the fixed price. The annual sea water desalination will increase from 20,000 tons to 40,000 tons in the city proper.
