Rivers in Fuxin stop flowing

( Abstract )

Report form July 23rd shows that all 313 rivers in Fuxin City stopped flowing. The drought is very serious in the area.

The drought is the worst since 1876. From the beginning of the year to July 15th, the city had 99 millimeters of rainfall, 1/3 of the average in the history. Now the city reserves only 20 million cubic meters of water, 50 million cubic meters less than the means of rainfall in common years. The underground water level has dropped 2-5 meters. Only 7 out of 75 water reservoirs have water for irrigation. Millions of people and livestock do not have drinking water. 376,000 hectares of farmland suffered from drought. 333,333 hectares of them harvested nothing.

Liaoning Provincial government is very concerned about the drought, and doing their best to solve the problem.
