The reasons for so many droughts this year

( Abstract )

From mid of May, over 2 million hectares of land in China is suffering from drought. This is the highest record in the 90s. The average rainfall in northern China is only 23.25 millimeters in the first 4 months of this year.

Experts say La Nina is to blame for the drought. Sunspots were also said to be related with the drought.

From January to May this year, rainfall in northern China was 50% to 80% less than past years. The water accumulation in 352 reservoirs reduced by 14.6 billion cubic meters.

The State Anti-flood Headquarters urges for the construction of water conservation projects, aiming to insure drinking water and agriculture water supply.
