Severe drought threatens cities in north China

( Abstract )

According to the State Flood Control and Drought Relief Headquarters, the current drought is threatening the water supplies in cities in north China. Having suffered from 4-year drought, the municipality of Tianjin has decided to ration the water supplies for its residents starting from July 1.

In addition, Jinan, capital of Shandong province, started the water supply schedules. If this does not help effectively, the supply quota will be implemented. The quota system was already applied in Yantai and Weihai of Shandong province.
