Who will protect ozonosphere?

( Abstract )

Ozone or O3 is named as the "protector of the earth" for it can absorb deleterious ultraviolet radiation.

The UN has made September 16th to be the World Ozonosphere Protection Day.

On September 8th, NASA reports that the ozonosphere hole above the South Pole is 2,830 square kilometers, 3 time the territory of the US.

Ozonosphere hole does not really mean a hole in the ozonosphere, but meaning that the concentration of ozone is less than 1/2 of the norm.

In the past 15 years, the total amount of ozone in the world reduced by 5%. This brought many misfortunes to the world.

Since the American company "Dupont" developed freon in the 1930s, 15 million tons of freon has been produced for industrial use. This substance seriously damaged the ozonosphere.

In September of 1987, 24 nations signed the "Montreal Pact" to eliminate ozone depleting substance before 2010. By July of 1999, 168 of the 200 countries in the world have signed the pact.
